Winter is a time of hibernation and rest, while spring is for renewal and growth. Theoretically, you’ll have more motivation and success completing your New Year’s resolutions in April even though we’re somehow already a quarter of the way through the year. If you find yourself wanting to make some lifestyle changes, look no further. Here’s what’s out for 2025, and here’s what Refine says is in for 2026.

IN: Classic literature
OUT: Blind reliance on AI
We prefer human writers, stories, intellectual tenacity, and authentic tradition that’s passed down from generations, not a constant barrage of media at our fingertips.

IN: No make-up makeup
OUT: Overconsuming skincare products
Natural and clean beauty is here to stay and our wallets thank us for it.

IN: Shared community meals
OUT: Outsourcing your spiritual life to influencers
Anyone can tell you, it takes a village. Digital inspiration is great, but never a substitute for real connection, especially over a shared meal.

IN: Lined skirts and dresses with pockets
OUT: Skin-tight spandex
Fashion should be female. Lined skirts and dresses with pockets are a win for women. Who doesn’t want to be comfortable and attractive instead of exposed?

IN: Letting your yes mean yes and your no mean no
OUT: Living out Catholicism aesthetically, not sacramentally
As Catholics, we strive to live with conviction, not contradiction. We strive to be the same people in the pews as we are on the street. We don’t adorn ourselves with rosaries, we recite them.

IN: Thrifting sacred art
OUT: Minimalism
Yeah, we thrift vintage heirloom pieces that have infinite value and decorate our homes with curated treasures. A beige room could never.

IN: The Angelus
OUT: Being afraid of silence
In 2026, we are going to ponder it all in our hearts like the Blessed Mother.

IN: Being unapologetically patriotic
OUT: Confusing busyness with devotion
We will be celebrating America’s 250th patriotically without distraction! We’re emulating Mary Magdalene and praying for the parts of ourselves that are Marthas.

IN: Authentic joy
OUT: Comparing your state in life to everyone else’s
Comparison is the thief of joy. We find our worth and salvation in the Father. Who doesn’t want to smile about that?

IN: Chivalry
OUT: Effeminancy
True men take action, protect, and stay humble. We aren’t confused about the masculine energy we love to see.

IN: High protein whole foods
OUT: Seed oils
Watch out, this is the year of wholefoods like meats, legumes, and greens.
