Discerning marriage, the fairytale ending, and where we’re at now!

If there’s one thing that’s always been apparent to me when I look back at my love story, it’s that God has always been faithful. 

I grew up as a hopeless romantic, dreaming up every possible romantic scenario that could happen to me. I imagined the perfect guy who would compliment me in every way — or so I thought. 

But now that I’m living this love story, it is better than my wildest dreams. I used to think I’d need these grand gestures to feel loved – and don’t get me wrong, those are great – but love isn’t measured in the mountaintop moments. Love isn’t measured at all. If my husband has taught me anything, it’s that love shows up in the mundane. It’s a steady love. It’s not bouncing from peaks to valleys, waiting for the next mountaintop moments. As Jake Scott says, love is the Tuesdays. 

My husband has shown me steady, gentle, fruitful love. It’s better than the movies because it’s real. It’s a gift from the Lord, and I will always be in awe of His good plan for our lives.

Our wedding day

When we left off, we had just begun to see the Lord’s faithfulness unfold through the wedding planning process. The wedding day itself? It was more magical than we could’ve ever imagined. We started the morning with breakfast, just the two of us, soaking in the fact that this was the day we’d been waiting for. Before parting ways, we practiced our first dance one last time in the parking lot. From there, the day unfolded like a dream – full of grace, beauty, and joy. 

The day flew by faster than I ever could’ve imagined – I know everyone says it flies by, and I believed them – I just didn’t understand how quickly it flies by. It felt like the blink of an eye before we were at our reception.

Starting out small

We’re now living in Cincinnati, surrounded by family and friends, rooted in a parish community we love. We’ve both started our jobs, found our rhythm, and we’re continuing to build a life grounded on the firm foundation of Christ.

Life isn’t perfect. There are stresses and uncertainties. But we were never promised perfection – we were promised a Good Shepherd. And that’s exactly what the Lord has given us: Himself and each other.

This is where we’re currently at, but it’s not the end of the story. It’s the beginning of a beautiful story. A story of God’s faithfulness. A story that still holds unknowns. But one thing that will never change: the same God who has been faithful through every season will continue to be faithful in the ones to come. 

If you find yourself in a season of waiting, confusion, or discernment – take heart. The Lord has not forgotten you. His timing is good, and His plans are even better. He is walking with you every step of the way. Don’t settle for anything less than a love that leads you closer to Him. Your story is unfolding too – and He’s already in the middle of it.
